Pilonidal Sinus
Pilonidal sinus is a quite common inflammatory skin condition. This usually affect the midline of the natal cleft. When this is infected can develop an abscess, which may require an urgent surgical treatment. This may consist in an incision and drainage of the abscess or an excision of the sinus.
The recurrence rate with traditional methods is quite high (15-40%) and the procedure can be quite debilitating for the patient. This is why Mr Leo proposes the newer and less invasive techniques combining keyhole surgery and laser treatment (EPSiT). This has been proven to give a much smaller recurrence rate (about 15%) and better general outcome. Proven patients satisfaction with these techniques has led Mr Leo to improve and refine this technique. He is one of the few surgeons who has adopted this technique in
the country and he has published peer-reviewed studies on this topic.
Mr Leo is Aetna, Aviva, AXA, Bupa, Cigna, G&M, Healix, Vitality, WPA approved doctor.
